Greeting from Pastor Clemons

Greetings and the gifts of God’s love and peace be yours today!

We are so glad that you’ve taken the time to stop by our website. My name is Cecilia Clemons and I am the Senior Pastor of our Congregation. I am the mother of two awesome elementary age kids; a native of Seattle, Washington; and a graduate from Garfield High School (go Bulldogs!). My undergraduate degree is in Vocal Performance from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia and I completed my Master of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinios. I have been a pastor in The United Methodist Church for over twenty years and couldn’t imagine doing anything other than helping people know God’s love for them, and grow in a life with God and others that is nothing less than transformative and amazing!

Shoreline UMC is a loving, supportive, multi-lingual and multi-ethnic congregation that loves the Lord and loves His people. Each week we worship at 10:30am in English; and on first Sundays, the Fijian Fellowship, who also holds service here in the afternoon, adds to our blessings with an acapella choral selection that makes us grateful that every nation is a part of the Kingdom of God! Sunday Worship is one of our favorite times in the week. We have biblically based sermons that can be applied to daily life, congregational singing and beautiful special music, as well as time for celebrating one another’s joys and praying for needs that we have and of which we know. If you join us for worship, and stay for refreshments afterward, we trust you’ll get a feeling of home.

We are small in number, so everyone feels a special welcome and is invited to feel included. We are big in heart – serving our neighborhood elementary school with a back to school blessing, free school supplies, Thanksgiving Baskets for families in need and more! This year we also joined the Briarcrest Elementary School for their Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day assembly. I offered an encouraging keynote message and members of our congregation joined in to show our support for the school as part of the community.

This Fall we hope to begin ESL “Coffee and Conversation” where we get together with Briarcrest Elementary School parents, community members and anyone who wants to attend to have simple conversations to support those learning to communicate in English get better at it and to make new friends. Coffee, tea and a snack will also be on the menu. We’d love for you to join us for this in the Fall!

Here at Shoreline UMC, we have small groups for adults, our children and our youth. We also have Sunday School for kids during the second half of Sunday Worship, leadership opportunities for kids and adults, and a variety of opportunities to serve those in need throughout the year. If you’re looking for a place to visit or join, where your talents and interests will be welcome, your presence celebrated, a community that is flexible, friendly, with a dash of the informal – come and join us!

Thanks again for stopping by our website and we hope that you will join us as we seek to know God better, and grow in God’s grace together.

God’s blessings of peace and joy to you!

Pastor Cecilia L. Clemons
